Stocks, funds, bonds, oh my!

As a promise to be much more proactive and not being happy with the minuscule .02% most savings accounts offer, I have decided to take charge with my savings. So my tentative foray into stocks and investing has begun. Not really knowing a thing about the stock market other than the much overstated “buy low, sell high”, I am rather intimidated by the emotional monster that is the stock market. I opened up a brokerage account a couple of weeks ago and transfered some money in there and I nervously bought some stock. Much to my dismay, a couple of days later I had already lost money, but I’m in it for the long haul, so this tiny setback means nothing. I also plan on opening an IRA account some time soon. Better late than never, no?
This is what gambling must feel like. I am really eager to learn, but the wealth of information is so vast…
